CalAIM
California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal
California's 2022 Medi-Cal reform that added Enhanced Care Management and Community Supports for eligible members. CalAIM does not pay assisted-living rent.
Families hear CalAIM and assume it pays for a facility. It does not pay rent. What it can do is assign a Lead Care Manager through Enhanced Care Management and fund short-term Community Supports such as recuperative care after a hospital stay. The phrase to use with a hospital or health plan is whether the patient is eligible for ECM and Community Supports.
