What this site is, and what it is not.

The information on California Care Compass is provided for general educational purposes only. It is not, and is not intended to be, a substitute for professional legal, medical, or financial advice. Senior care decisions are health, legal, and financial decisions combined. They require professional input that this site cannot replace.

We do not guarantee eligibility for Medi-Cal, IHSS, CalAIM benefits, the Assisted Living Waiver, PACE, MSSP, or any other government program. Eligibility decisions are made only by the relevant California state agency or the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Programs change frequently and rules vary by county and individual circumstances. Always confirm current rules with the relevant agency before making decisions.

We do not guarantee placement at any facility. Facilities make their own admission decisions based on care needs, capacity, and other factors outside our control.

We are not a state agency, government program, or county department. We are not affiliated with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), or the California Department of Aging (CDA), beyond using their published data sources.

We are not a licensed referral agency under California law for Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly, because no such license currently exists in California. (California Senate Bill 648, which would have created one, was vetoed in 2017.) We do not refer to Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) because that category requires a separate California license we do not hold.

We do not provide medical advice. For medical advice, talk to your parent’s physician or a California-licensed health care provider. We do not provide legal advice. For legal advice, talk to a California-licensed attorney. We do not provide tax or financial planning advice.

Always consult with a qualified professional and the relevant government agency before making senior care decisions.
